Looking for a Sub2Unlock alternative
If you searched for sub2unlock or subtounlock alternatives, you probably have a specific complaint. This page states what Keyway does precisely, and gives you tests to run on any tool in this category — including ours.
Keyway is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to SubtoUnlock, Sub2Unlock or any other service. Those names appear here because they are what people search for.
Why people go looking
In roughly the order they come up: the unlock page got slower, an interstitial appeared that was not there before, a visitor said the steps felt like a scam, or the "verifying your subscription" step turned out not to be verifying anything and someone noticed.
The last one is worth dwelling on, because it is structural rather than a choice any individual tool made badly. No link locker can verify a YouTube subscription. Google removed the API scope in 2020 — specifically because it was being used for this. Instagram, TikTok and X have never exposed follower-relationship checks to third parties. Discord can confirm guild membership, but only through a full OAuth grant that also breaks its own terms when used to gate a reward.
So when a tool shows a spinner labelled "checking your subscription", it is showing an animation. Keyway shows the same underlying mechanic — open the link, come back, confirm — without the animation, and writes"you confirmed this yourself" underneath. The platform-by-platform detail is here.
What Keyway does, and what to ask
The right-hand column is deliberately not a claim about another product. It is a test you can run in under a minute, on any tool including this one.
| Aspect | Keyway | Question to ask any tool |
|---|---|---|
| Account required | No. A management key is issued once; we store only its hash. | Is there an account? What happens if you lose access to it? |
| Advertising on unlock pages | None. No ad network is loaded on any page of this site. | Open one of their links and count the third-party requests. |
| Subscription verification | Not claimed. Social steps are visits and are labelled as such. | Which API endpoint do they call? There is no correct answer. |
| Destination exposure | Never sent to the browser. Revealed only in a redirect header after the server confirms the steps. | View source before unlocking. Is the destination in the page? |
| Visitor data | No IP addresses, no user agents, no cross-day identifiers stored. | Read the privacy policy — the one your visitors are subject to. |
| Works without JavaScript | Yes. Every unlock step is a real form; progress is a signed cookie. | Disable JavaScript and try one of their links. |
| Interstitials and countdowns | None. Three seconds on link steps, server-enforced and disclosed. | Time it on a phone. Count how many waits there are. |
| Analytics | Views, approximate uniques, unlock rate, per-step drop-off, countries, devices. | Are analytics included, or behind a plan? |
| Reporting abuse | A report link on every unlock page. Reports are read by a person. | Find the report button. How many clicks away is it? |
| Languages | English and Vietnamese, written rather than machine-translated. | Does the unlock page speak your audience's language? |
On speed, without inventing a number
There is no benchmark on this page claiming Keyway is some multiple faster than anything else, because we have not run one under conditions that would make the number meaningful. What can be stated is architecture, which is checkable:
- Every marketing page is static HTML generated at build time and served from Cloudflare's edge. No server starts, no query runs.
- An unlock page renders on the server from one lookup on a unique index. There is no client-side rendering step and no data fetch after load.
- No web font is downloaded. The type is the system stack, which is already on the device.
- No third-party scripts. No analytics tag, no ad network, no tag manager. The only external request any page can make is to Cloudflare Turnstile, and only when a challenge is actually required.
Those are design decisions with predictable consequences, not a measurement. Open a link on your phone and time it — that is a benchmark with your audience's network conditions in it, which is the only one that matters to you.
Where Keyway is genuinely worse
A comparison page that finds no downsides is a sales page. Three real ones:
No dashboard. Because there are no accounts, there is no list of all your links. Each link has its own management key and you keep them. That is better for privacy and worse for anyone running twenty links who wants one screen.
The builder needs JavaScript. Unlock pages do not — that was the priority, because visitors are the ones on unreliable connections. But adding and reordering steps is a genuinely dynamic interaction and creating a link without scripts is not supported.
It is new. A tool that has been running for years has demonstrated something a feature list cannot. If uptime history is what you are buying, that is a fair reason to wait.
Questions about switching
Is Keyway affiliated with Sub2Unlock or SubtoUnlock?
No. Keyway is an independent product with no connection to, endorsement from, or affiliation with SubtoUnlock, Sub2Unlock, or any other service. Those names appear on this page only because they are what people search for when looking for alternatives, which is the legitimate use of a competitor name.
Can I move my existing links across?
Not automatically, and no tool in this category can — a link locker URL is a permanent identifier on someone else's domain and there is no export format. What you can do is create the Keyway equivalents and update the places you control: video descriptions, pinned comments, community posts. Links already shared elsewhere will keep pointing at the old tool.
Why is this comparison so vague about the competition?
Because being specific would mean claiming things about products we have not audited, on a page with an obvious commercial interest in their looking bad. Tools change, and a confident claim about a competitor's behaviour is wrong the moment they ship a fix. Every row here states what Keyway does and hands you a test you can run in under a minute. That is more useful than our opinion.
What is Keyway actually worse at?
Three things, honestly. There is no account, so there is no dashboard listing all your links — you keep the management key per link. Creating a link needs JavaScript, because it is a dynamic builder (unlock pages do not). And it is newer, with a shorter track record than tools that have been running for years; that matters, and no feature list changes it.
Do I have to stop using my current tool?
No. Nothing stops you running both — different links, different tools — and comparing the completion rates on your own audience. That is a better decision procedure than any comparison page, including this one.
Run one link through it
Make a link, open it on your phone, and check the things in the right-hand column above. Ten minutes, no account, nothing to undo.
