About Keyway
An independent link locker, built on the assumption that this category's bad reputation was earned — and is fixable.
Why this exists
Link lockers have a deserved reputation. Open a typical one on a phone and you get an interstitial, a countdown, an advertisement, a second countdown, and a step claiming to verify a subscription it cannot verify. The creator who shared it usually has no idea that is what their audience sees.
None of that is necessary. The underlying idea — a small, visible step between a link and the person following it — is reasonable and useful. The surrounding experience is a consequence of advertising paying for the tool, and a link locker does not have to cost enough to need advertising.
So Keyway is the version without any of it: no ads, no countdowns, no account, no tracking, and no claim about a subscription that no platform API would let anyone make.
What it runs on
Entirely on the Cloudflare Developer Platform. Astro renders the site, Workers serve it, D1 stores links, KV holds rate limits and caches, R2 holds creator artwork, and Analytics Engine counts events. There is no other vendor in the request path and no third-party script on any page.
That is why it can be free. Marketing pages are static files at the edge — opening one starts no server and runs no query. An unlock page is one lookup on a unique index plus one analytics event. A link with ten thousand views costs roughly ten thousand index lookups, which is a rounding error.
What we commit to
- No advertising on unlock pages. Not now, and not on some future plan.
- No selling or sharing of visitor data — there is nothing collected worth buying.
- No claim that something was verified unless it genuinely was.
- A report button on every unlock page, needing no account and no email.
- Reports read by a person, with an audit trail behind every moderation action.
- Honest documentation, including of the limits — seewhere we are still exposed.
Not affiliated with anyone
Keyway is independent. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to SubtoUnlock, Sub2Unlock, or any other link locker. It is not affiliated with YouTube, Discord, Telegram, X, Instagram or TikTok — those names appear here only to describe where a step can send a visitor.
Where a competitor's name appears it is because that is what people search for. The comparison page states only what Keyway does and gives you tests to run yourself, rather than making claims about products we have not audited.
